3 Days, 3 Ways Joe Lombardo’s Corruption is Costing Nevadans: Backdoor Deals Edition

In the final week of the election cycle, NV Dems has launched a new series to highlight Joe Lombardo’s long history of cutting deals with billionaires instead of cutting costs for working families. On day two, we’re breaking down Lombardo’s ongoing coverup for Elon Musk that left two Clark County firefighters and as many as 20 Nevada workers with serious injuries on the job.

A bombshell investigation found that within a day of getting a call from a top Musk executive, Lombardo’s administration dropped $400,000 in safety fines against the Boring Company after two firefighters suffered serious chemical burns and scarring during a drill in one of the company’s tunnels. Then, Lombardo’s administration tried to cover up this backdoor dealing by deleting and altering public records.

While lawmakers have called on Lombardo time and time again to address this “blatant special treatment” for the world’s first trillionaire, the governor has failed to give Nevadans’ answers. It’s no surprise that since Lombardo was caught in this cover up, Musk donated $10 million to the RGA, which has spent at least $9.5 million supporting Lombardo.

“After firefighters suffered chemical burns and permanent scarring in Elon Musk’s Boring Company tunnels, Joe Lombardo still can’t give a straight answer on why the richest man in the world got special treatment or how evidence of this backdoor deal was deleted, “ said Nevada State Democratic Party spokesperson Kate Sosland. “It’s long overdue for Lombardo to address his administration’s blatant corruption.”
